How to use - how you apply Tūpākihi Oil really matters!

Our Tūpākihi Oil needs to penetrate your multiple skin layers to the area of pain quickly. Applying to warm skin helps the oil absorb more quickly. Warmth softens the outer skin layer (stratum corneum) allowing oils to pass through more easily. Warmth also:

  • increases blood flow, which can help skin absorb and distribute topical compounds more easily
  • reduce viscosity at the skin surface, allowing the oil to spread more evenly and penetrate deeper

Three options to warm the skin:

  1. Apply oil immediately after a shower or bath, or
  2. Place a wheat bag on the area, or
  3. Warm the skin as you gently apply the oil. To achieve this you would be rubbing a little faster than normal.

How much do I apply?

As we were taught, “less is more”. During the first few days of using, take notice - your body is communicating to you. Start with a few drops and gently rub into the skin at the area of pain.
